Content (Syllabus outline)
Selected chapters from international law, assuming that students have already mastered a basic knowledge of international law. The selected chapters are: the right of nations to self-determination; the international legal protection of minorities; the emergence of international law, especially customary law; the identification of customary international law; ius cogens in international law; the fragmentation and expansion of modern international law; the role of international law in foreign policy; humanitarian intervention and the duty to protect; the role of the International Criminal Court.

Prof. dr. E. Petrič: Professor of International Law and International Relations has been teaching this subject and a series of related subjects since 1965 in the Republic of Slovenia and many other universities; he is a member of the prestigious UN Commission for International Law, whose task is the codification and progressive development of international law; a member of the Committee for the Review of Judges of the International Court of Justice, the author of six books on problems of international law and international relations; the winner of the former Boris Kidrič Fund for scientific research work; the author of more than 200 scientific and professional articles on the problems of international law, international relations and related issues; President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia.
