Special attention is devoted to the two major and clearly juxtaposed domains – human dignity and gross violations of basic rights in general: »The question of the consequences and the prevention of structural and large-scale human rights violations is raised in view of the central value of respect for human dignity.«

In this book, the author attempts to give hypothetical, but founded answers to the questions. Authors and lecturers today – in books like this – do not need to list all the information because a lot of information is simply and easily accessible on the Internet. This means that the author focuses on the essence – the willingness and ability of people for independent thinking. This book is not an encyclopaedic guide, but an encouragement and guide for the consideration about the fundamental issues of international relations and connecting these issues.

Four years after the end of the Second World War in Slovenia, OZNA arrested 700–800 women with the help of uniformed police between May and July 1949 and transported them like livestock in freight cars to the abandoned Gottscheer village of Ferdreng to a camp for “community work”. In October 1949, about half of the prisoners were released and the other half was moved to improvised prisons. In summer and autumn of 1950, the last prisoners were pardoned and released. The book explores, illustrates and explains female prison camps in the light of several study areas, with the help of various methodological tools and within the framework of four conceptual networks – sociological, historical, literary and constitutional.

“In contrast to the previous years, the crisis is happening in the environment of monetary and legal subordination to the transnational system of the European Union, generational and intellectual fatigue of the cultural elite from the 80s and 90s and disillusionment with the probable range and achievements of any national renewal programme. Forum 21 and the Assembly for Constitution, which managed to mobilize their respective half of the electorate in 2004 for a short time, have disappeared. The publisher Nova revija is in bankruptcy proceedings. Is this the end of the concentrated historic time, large national and political stories, national issues and programmes, the end of ideology and the end of history? Maybe this is time for the inauguration of normalcy, new political culture for new generations, European Slovenehood or Slovenian Europeanism?”

Nova Gorica: European Faculty of Law; Kranj: Graduate School of Government and European Studies, , 2014

The book is written for readers who are interested in questions regarding the formation and early drafts of the existing constitution, historical and cultural origins of Slovenian constitutionality, fundamental principles and provisions of the Slovenian constitutional system and the placement of the Slovenian constitution in European and other international systems of human right protection and fundamental freedoms. These questions are addressed from the perspective of “living” and “active constitution”, not just from the perspective of constitution on paper. The book provides information essential for understanding Slovenian constitutionality: key analysis of judicial proceedings of the Slovenian Constitutional Court, the European Court of Human Rights and some other influential constitutional courts, for example the US and the German courts, as well as an analysis of procedural operational aspects of these courts.
