Nova Gorica which is in Slovenia known as the city of roses is with 13,491 inhabitants tenth largest city in Slovenia. In the city all important city institutions from local government to primary schools, health center, library, cultural center, theater and similar can be found. To this day the city has continuously evolved and grown into a regional center of Goriška statistical region or better said of Northern Primorska. Nova Gorica is a university city as it is home to the University of Nova Gorica but also to a number of higher education institutions and colleges, including the European Faculty of Law in Nova Gorica. Student pulse is increasingly recognizable even in France Bevk library which is housed in a modern building and was built by the plans of the architect Vojteh Ravnikar. Nova Gorica has a very good position and mild climate with warm winters and hot summers. It lies at the intersection of Vipavska valley with the subalpine world. Thus the sea and the mountains are only half an hour away by car which opens up many opportunities for leisure. City is known for his gambling tourism but it also offers many features to other visitors and guests. In and around the town you will find a range of cultural attractions: the Franciscan monastery in Kostanjevica, railway station (lies between the New and Old Gorica town), Solkan bridges, Sveta Gora (mountain with a monastery), Nova Gorica museum in Villa Bartolomei in Solkan on the Kromberk castle and you can also visit the City Gallery in the city center. At the newly built sky scraper Eda center in Nova Gorica stands a monument dedicated to Edvard Rusjan, the first Slovene aviator.

Nova Gorica is also called a city of youth. Since there are many primary and secondary schools and higher education institutions its streets are always full with young people. The city organizes many events and a popular meeting place of Nova Gorica citizens is Bevkov market in the city center. From here it is only a step to the Nova Gorica Culture Centre where one can find a rich offer of concerts and to the Slovenian National Theatre Nova Gorica where you can see numerous theater plays performed by home and foreign theater ensembles. Nova Gorica also has very good contacts and links with the neighboring town of Gorizia in Italy. Walking through the two cities is a special experience because they virtually flow one into another. They are connected with a bus that runs between the cities. On the Slovenian side of the border the city bus service is free of charge. Nova Gorica is also friendly to bicycle users since the distances are not great and the climate is very favorable.
